No Child Left Behind is a gigantic boondoggle. The federal standards it created have created a classroom culture of ‘teaching to the test’ that keeps teachers and administrators nervously jumping through hoops year-round. It has led to sanitizing student opportunities for learning down to the blandest standardized checklists possible. Like pulling a rotten tooth, ending NCLB is a simple--but painful--but simple process. STOP applying for and accepting ANY federal funds. Like I said, simple but painful. And what needs to be done. Members in our community want to fill the gap. Spread the word.
