Frederick Douglass was a great advocate for Black literacy. He wanted his people to learn to read, for illiteracy is itself a form of bondage. Amen!
But there is a type of bondage that can come with or without literacy--the bondage of the mind and soul and spirit.
As an educator I am thrilled to see everyone learn to read and write--and draw and sing, for many think and communicate in pictures and sound.
If you are spiritually free, you are then free indeed. Any politician or ‘minister’ that would urge you to vengeance or prolonged dependence on others is not helping you find true freedom.
Learn more about Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, Justice Janice Rogers Brown, Ken Blackwell, Francis Rice and Thomas Sowell for good examples and role models you can be proud of.
Don’t let greed, hate or the writings of an evil man named Karl Marx (they come in all skin colors--Marx was white) keep your soul in bondage and your society in chaos. Do you enjoy gangs and gunfire on your street? Do-nothing mayors and judges and senators need to be removed from office, not schmoozed for political favors stolen by taxing working families even more.
We are one race--the Human race. Forgive, live in freedom and peace among your brothers of all colors.
As important as literacy is, better an oral tradition that ends in Heaven--than great literacy that ends in Hell--Better literacy AND Heaven.
May God bless you. You are blessed, for you were created in the image of God. If you live in America, you are doubly blessed and more wealthy than almost all the other people in the world.
God, please forgive America, each of us and as a Nation in Jesus’ Name. God bless America! America, bless God!
