Modern teacher salary and benefit packages put teachers far above the poverty line--in a much higher tax bracket--which means distant bureaucrats take a bigger slice of your gross income pie before you ever get it. And the gap between your actual (gross) income and take-home pay is moving the wrong way. Are you satisfied with the accountability and effectiveness of your school district...city...state...federal government? Are you convinced that everyone in your community is doing their best not to be a drag on society? If not, here are several useful solutions and thoughts.
First, vote down any new bonds, even school bonds. We can--MUST--get by with what we’ve got--you see the waste on campus. That’s our money. It’s time for schools to tighten their belt for a change so we don’t have to overtighten our own.
Second, vote out any legislators who lean toward more taxes. Again, we can get by with what we’ve got--you see the inefficiency in government. That’s our money they’ve been mis-spending.
Third, remember that there is no such thing as ‘government’ money. There is only private money taken from you to be used by public servants. Some people have forgotten that important fact, so remind them. Beware the inevitable betrayal--remember the book Animal Farm and how those in power kept changing the rules? Beware anyone who talks about redistributing the wealth of the rich or, in Barack Obama’s now-famous words to “Joe the Plumber”--to ”spread the wealth around” -- the ARROGANCE as to want to be The One to do it! Although he held no public office, Robin Hood was also a thief who had favorable publicity.
The only way a politician has anything to spread around is by slicing into YOUR bread with a tax knife. Most often it’s branded as ‘Progressive,’ or as compassion but there is a hidden agenda: they are bent on taking from all productive workers and giving to welfare recipients, felons and criminal aliens--to buy votes and gain power by mortgaging YOUR income and future. It is only a matter of time before they take a bigger slice out of your tax bracket, simply with a new bill passed by money-mad legislators. And whether you like her or not, Sarah Palin understands this as does John McCain. Despite what the official NEA/affiliate and maybe even your school district FUD (“Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt”) line is, the Republican ticket is a far safer bet when it comes to preserving America and America’s jobs. McCain-Palin is FAR from the perfect ‘dream team’ but they are better than the Obama-Biden-- TWO wealthy status-quo establishment types in the 9% approval Congress that’s to blame for most of our economic problems.
It would appear that most teacher unions are eager for the problems to continue, because their actions show they don't really care about either teachers or children--they care about power and money even if it destroys America--and even union jobs as we presently know them (you should read up on “card check” and “compulsory membership”).
If you want to see an even bigger chunk of your personal income taken out and given to the undeserving...by weasels looking to buy votes and power with YOUR wallet...then vote for Barack Hussein Obama and Nancy Pelosi and their kind. But mark my words: the high salaries for front-line workers (teachers) who get good Union pay right now would suffer considerable hidden and visible tax increases--and could be among the first to be replaced with lower-paid workers in an Obama administration. Don’t be fooled by the Hope and Change talking points, your job and your Country really are at risk. If Obama gets in, your high-value work is done and the rest of the propaganda and dumbing-down of kids is a mere commodity. You might even become what an earlier fascist called a ‘Useless Eater’ -- hopefully not.
Here is an outstanding explanation of the truth:
The whole "tax the rich" argument that the leftists are proposing is fallacious to begin with. The current tax laws do NOT "tax the rich." The tax laws "tax the productive."
If the tax laws were to actually tax the rich, then we'd have wealth taxes, and people like Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, and Jerry Sinefeld would get slammed.
No, what we have is a tax on productivity. The most productive people in our society are the ones facing the highest tax burden. LINK
Meanwhile, the power-loving Big Labor elitists are likely to decrease your rights and privacy and silence your voice as a union member, as a section of this WSJ article details. LINK
Footnote: One valuable tax strategy may be for you to have a side business, although this is not a pitch for any business in particular. Every good businessperson large or small works to provide quality products and services at the best possible price. Beware bureaucratic red tape and those who try to increase inspections, licenses, fees and permits that are taxes by other names.
